چکیده

Eleven patients with recurrent paroxysmal tachycardia (PSVT) underwent electrophysiological studies. In each patient, initial study revealed re-entrant PSVT with antegrade conduction via the normal pathway and retrograde conduction via an extranodal pathway (Kent bundle). A temporary electrode catheter was left at the conclusion of initial study and PSVT induction was performed on subsequent days before and after the following intravenous drugs: ouabain 0.01 mg/kg (OU), propranolol 0.1 mg/kg (PRO), ouabain + propranolol (OU + PRO) and procainamide 750 mg (PA). In all patients, control studies prior to drug administration revealed the ability to induce sustained PSVT. In five patients, OU, PRO, or OU + PRO prevented induction of sustained PSVT by increasing atrioventricular (A-V) nodal refractoriness. In four of the patients, (including one of the above), PA prevented induction of

Multiple mechanisms of successful slow-pathway catheter ablation of common atrioventricular nodal re-entrant tachycardia.

BACKGROUND In patients with atrioventricular nodal re-entrant tachycardia, modifications of the antegrade atrioventricular nodal function curve caused by catheter ablation of the so-called slow pathway are heterogeneous, but have not yet been systematically evaluated. AIM To test the hypothesis that successful treatment is independent of specific electrophysiological modifications of atrioven...

Mechanisms of junctional tachycardia showing ventricular pre-excitation.

Over a period of five years 12 patients underwent electrophysiological studies for the investigation of recurrent tachycardias which showed ventricular pre-excitation. Nine patients had a type B pattern and two a type A. One patient had episodes of both types. Dual atrioventricular nodal pathways were found in six of seven patients with atrioventricular nodal re-entrant tachycardia mechanisms. ...

Familial atrioventricular nodal re-entrant tachycardia: A case seriers and a systematic review

Multiple reports of familial clustering suggest that genetic factors may contribute in the pathogenesis of atrioventricular nodal re-entrant tachycardia (AVNRT). We report three cases of AVNRT in a father and his two sons along with a review of literature of other similar cases. Electrophysiological studies induced typical AVNRT, which was successfully eliminated by radiofrequency ablation in a...

Atrioventricular nodal re-entrant tachycardia in a patient with Ebstein anomaly.

The first case of successful slow pathway modulation is reported in a patient with Ebstein anomaly and recurrent atrioventricular nodal re-entrant tachycardia. Typical signals were recorded during electrophysiological study at the slow pathway region between the His bundle and the coronary sinus where ablation was performed successfully. Thus, slow pathway modulation seems to be a safe procedur...
